We formed the company with this simple vision in mind. Focus on Innovation: Our company's focus is on developing innovative products to advance patient care. Medtric's flagship technology was developed collaboratively at leading research and medical institutions. Our nanoscale-based therapy was specifically engineered to protect wounds against infection and advance the healing process. Strategy for Growth: As we look to the future, our strategy is to enter the expanding clinical and over the counter wound care markets. Medtric will also leverage this platform to penetrate alternative applications inculding the treatment of acne and other topical infections. Our strategy ensures a strong foundation with expansive capabilities.

Sean Connell - COO Sean Connell

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Connell is the co-founder and co-inventor of Medtric's technology and has over 7 years of experience in biomedical research. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has co-authored a book chapter on advanced tissue engineering. Mr. Connell currently serves as a Business Development Fellow at the Life Sciences Institute for Biomedical Development at Purdue University. Furthermore, Mr. Connell is currently a consultant for the Purdue Realization and Entrepreneurship PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows (PREPP) program to assist other young entrepreneurs in their business endeavors. He has also participated as an affiliate in Purdue's Entrepreneurship Leadership Academy hosted by the BDM Center for Entrepreneurship and the Purdue Research Park. Mr. Connell received his B.S. from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a PhD at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University.

Jianming Li, PhD - CSO Jianming Li, PhD

Dr. Li is the other co-founder and co-inventor of Medtric's core antimicrobial technology. Dr. Li received his B.S. from the University of Michigan in mechanical engineering and a PhD from Purdue University in biomedical engineernig. While at Purdue, Dr. Li was honored as a prestigious Henry Ford Scholar and was one of the only twenty graduate researchers worldwide to receive the Chorafas Foundation Prize in 2008. Dr. Li was formally a National Science Foundation fellow and a post-doctoral entrepreneurial fellow via a Kauffman Foundation Initiative.

Dr. Li is a prolific researcher in the area of advanced tissue engineering, neuroengineering and biomaterials. He has several patent filings in biomimetic scaffolds and biomedical devices. His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and he is the leading author of two book chapters in the area of biomaterials. Dr. Li's work has been highlighted in several media outlets including the Guardian Newspaper in the UK. Dr. Li has further conducted international research at leading Chinese institutions. Dr. Li currently serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the department of Basic Medical Sciences at Purdue University.

William Schryver - CFO Will Schryver, MBA

Mr. Schryver brings international work experience to the team as a veteran and former Marine. Mr. Schryver earned his bachelor's degree in Finance and Applied Economics from Florida State University and is currently pursuing his MBA in Finance from Purdue University's Krannert School of Management in 2011.

A couple of science nerds, Sean Connell and Jianming Li, meet in a laboratory at Purdue University. They start a friendly conversation next to the lab's cotton candy machine about healing wounds.
June 2010
Medtric, a play on the metric system, is formed as a limited liability company in the state of Indiana to make the measurable difference.
Oct. 2010
The founders of Medtric become co-inventors and file a patent to protect Osmotec - a unique method to kill germs and promote wound healing.
Dec. 2010
Medtric receives a couple of grants to demonstrate the ability of Osmotec to kill multiple different types of bacteria and to heal wounds.
Feb. 2011
The founders take the show on the road and compete in their first business plan competition at the Brown-Forman Cardinal Challenge hosted by the University of Louisville.
June 2011
Medtric continues to do cool science stuff in the lab. For example, we completed our initial pre-clinical testing and started our canine clinical trial with the Purdue Veterinary Teaching hospital.
Feb. 2012
Medtric executes a license agreement with the Purdue Research Foundation for the exclusive world-wide operating rights to the Osmotec technology.
May 2012
Medtric finishes the business plan competition circuit by winning the Licensing Executive Society's competition. The company was able to raise critical funds that will be used to complete major commercialization milestones and bring Osmotec closer to the market.

John Hertig - Business Development and Strategy: John brings over 20 years of executive level experience. John received his BSME at Purdue University and studied business administration at the University of Delaware and Pepperdine University before becoming the Corporate Vice President at McGaw. Afterward, John served as CEO of Medsource Technologies, Vice President and General Manager of medical devices for Ohmeda, President of Central Admixture Pharmacy Services for McGaw and CEO of Enpath Medical. Currently, John is the Executive Director at the Alfred Mann Institute at Purdue.

Steve Mogensen – Sales and Marketing: Steven Mogensen brings over 25 years of high level medical device sales expertise to Medtric. Steve has directly overseen the sale of $1B worth of medical device product. Steve began his career as the Director of National Accounts and Sales at Smith Medical after completing his marketing degree from Central Missouri State. After leaving Smith, Steve served as the VP of new product introduction at MedSource Technologies before he co-founded Advanced Clinical Sales. From there, Steve served as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Enpath Medical. Currently, Steve is the managing director at the Alfred Mann Institute at Purdue.

Ping Poulsen - Regulatory Strategy: Ping Poulsen is the founder of Safis Solutions, LLC and currently serves as President and CEO. Mrs. Poulsen received her masters degree and executive education at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 2005. She currently serves on the Indiana University Kelley School of Business Life Sciences Industry Advisory Board. Ping has over 10 years of medical biotech entrepreneurship and regulatory consulting practice with experience leading projects to combat cardiovascular, infectious, oncologic, diabetic, orthopedic, neurologic, and pediatric diseases.
