To combat the growing problem of wound infections, we have developed Osmotec. Osmotec is a new therapeutic that relies on hyperosmotic nanoemulsions. Our technology uses biomechanical principles to inactivate bacterial cells through a simple two-step synergistic mechanism of action: (i) engineered nanoemulsions attack pathogens by permeating or disturbing their protective cell membranes and then (ii) a strong osmotic pressure dehydrates the weakened organism.
Osmotec simultaneously facilitates wound repair. The strong osmotic pressure increases microcirculation to aid debridement. Plus, the nanobubbles scavenge reactive oxygen species to reduce the severity of secondary damage. Initial pre-clinical studies, using a multi-flora infected full-thickness dermal injury, demonstrate Osmotec significantly accelerates wound healing in comparison to market leading products.
